Dr Millard completed his internship in Townsville before moving to the United Kingdom for three years to commence anaesthesia training. In 2001 he moved to Western Australia where he sharpened his perioperative skills with a year of general medicine before completing Australian anaesthesia training in 2005.
Dr Millard has worked as a consultant anaesthetist at Fremantle Hospital where he also acted in the role of Director of Medical Services. In 2013 he returned to Queensland to take up the full-time post of Deputy Director of Anaesthesia at Nambour Base Hospital, later moving to Sunshine Coast Hospital (SCUH) upon its opening. Since 2017 Dr Millard has worked in private practice with the Sunshine Coast Anaesthetic Group whilst continuing to provide a service in the public system at SCUH.
Competent and confident across all areas of Anaesthesia and in demand across the Sunshine Coast, Dr Millard is particularly fond of Paediatric and Obstetric Anaesthesia together with Maxillofacial Anaesthesia. His photography for patients at Caesarean Section is especially cherished.
When not in the theatre, Dr Millard can be found on the sidelines coaching junior rugby, on the mountains skiing with friends and family or on the stage trying his hand at stand-up comedy. But don’t worry - if he’s not funny, at least you’ll be asleep.
