Anaesthesia Services
Anaesthetists from the Sunshine Coast Anaesthetic Group provide services to all the private and public health facilities on the Sunshine Coast.
Hospital Management
Every private health facility on the Sunshine Coast has a Medical Advisory Committee (MAC). These committees provide management advice on all services within the hospital, including anaesthesia.
A majority of these committees have one of our anaesthetic members. Additionally, our members are involved in all hospitals’ Anaesthesia Services Committees — which are responsible for maintaining a high level of anaesthetic care and equipment.
A number of our members also continue to have strong ties with the public hospital system on the Sunshine Coast. This involvement is not only in providing anaesthesia, but also teaching and management positions within those departments.
Medical Education
A number of our anaesthetists are involved with the ongoing education of junior anaesthetists-in-training at the Nambour General Hospital.
Currently there are plans to extend this teaching process into the private field so that trainees can benefit from the expertise of the anaesthetists within our group.
Anaesthesia for Emergencies
A number of private hospitals provide an after hours service for emergency procedures. The Sunshine Coast Anaesthetic Group provides an after hours service for the surgeons we work with.
If you require an after hours procedure, your surgeon will communicate with the anaesthetist on call to arrange an appropriate time for your procedure to occur.
A member from our group is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Obstetrics
Our anaesthetist on call provides anaesthesia for obstetric emergencies (ie caesarean section) and pain relief in labour.
