Dr Dan Holmes trained as an anaesthetist and intensive care specialist in the UK, New Zealand, and Melbourne before emigrating permanently to Australia in 2012.

After five years in Darwin, Dan and his family relocated to the Sunshine Coast, initially working full time in the public system before transitioning to a mix of public and private.

Dan has subspecialty interests in Emergency Surgery and Trauma, Paediatric Anaesthesia, Colorectal Surgery and Orthopaedic Surgery. He also works with the humanitarian capability of the Australian Government (AusMAT) and has led medical teams in disaster and infectious diseases responses across the Pacific, including Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, Philippines, Samoa, and Christmas Island.

Outside of work Dan loves to spend time with his three boys and the best wife in the world. He also plays a few musical instruments with varying degrees of competence, does a few triathlons every year, and is interested in watching almost any sport, as long as it doesn’t involve horses.
