Dr David Bertholini

Dr David Bertholini is a Specialist Anaesthetist who completed his medical degree in his home state of South Australia, before undertaking rural general practice training in Alice Springs, Cairns, Atherton, and Townsville. He then undertook Anaesthetic training in Townsville and Brisbane and was awarded Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) in 2005.
Dr Bertholini’s professional experience includes roles as Staff Specialist Bendigo, VIC in 2006, Anaesthetic Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) in Townsville, Qld in 2007 and has been Anaesthetic VMO on the Sunshine Coast since 2008. Dr Bertholini has also been working in private practice across the Sunshine Coast, having joined Sunshine Coast Anaesthetic Group in 2008.
With interests in Day Case Anaesthesia, Regional Anaesthesia, Paediatric Anaesthesia and Bariatric Anaesthesia, Dr Bertholini is a member of the Society of Ambulatory Anaesthesia (SAMBA), the American Society of Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine, the Society for Paediatric Anaesthesia in New Zealand and Australia (SPANZA) and the Society of Obesity and Bariatric Anaesthesia. In addition, he has a keen interest in Military Anaesthetics and Retrieval and was an RAAF Specialist Reservist from 2009 to 2015.
Outside of work, family is Dr Bertholini’s priority, with four children who keep him entertained. He enjoys watching live sport but is now happy with more sedate pastimes for himself. He enjoys sea kayaking and hiking and can often be found staring at a map planning his next adventure. Being South Australian, David feels lucky to have grown up around some very high-quality vineyards and he maintains his interests in the world of wine production and tasting.
