Dr John Poh undertook his training in Cairns, Toowoomba, Brisbane and Nambour General hospitals. He qualified in 2003.

After gaining his specialist qualification, he then worked as a Staff Specialist at Nambour General Hospital before joining the Sunshine Coast Anaesthetic Group in 2003.

Areas of practice include anaesthesia for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Ophthalmology, General Surgery and Urology.
