Dr Comben commenced his medical career at Nambour General Hospital in 2012, where he worked for several years before embarking on specialist training in Anaesthesia.

Prior to completing anaesthetic training, he undertook additional specialist experience in two key areas of interest: a Paediatric Anaesthesia Fellowship at Queensland Children’s Hospital; and a Retrieval Medicine post at the Sunshine Coast LifeFlight retrieval helicopter base. This specialist training allowed him to participate in the Deadly Ears ENT outreach program, helping Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander children in rural and remote QLD - a key highlight of his training.

Dr Comben now practises across both the public and private health sectors on the Sunshine Coast.

Dr Comben is competent in all aspects of anaesthesia and provides care across a broad range of surgical specialties. His particular clinical interests include Paediatric Anaesthesia, anaesthesia for Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) procedures, and Orthopaedic Surgery. He is committed to delivering safe, high-quality, and patient-centred care, with a strong focus on perioperative medicine and optimal patient outcomes.

Outside of medicine, Dr Comben enjoys the lifestyle offered by the Sunshine Coast, where he lives with his young family and scruffy dog. Personal interests include swimming, surfing, camping, gardening, and enjoying the occasional fine wine.
