Dr Mark Downing is a Specialist Anaesthetist who has worked in both public and private practice on the Sunshine Coast since 2011.

He completed a Bachelor of Science (First Class Honours) in Chemistry in 1988, receiving a Royal Society of Chemistry research prize, before undertaking medical training at University College London, graduating in 1995. He went on to complete specialist training in anaesthesia at UCL in 2004 and was then appointed as a Consultant Anaesthetist at the same institution.

After working in Western Australia in 2002, Mark chose to permanently migrate to Australia in 2005.

He has a particular interest in ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia, which he incorporates routinely into his clinical practice to help optimise patient comfort and recovery.

Outside of work, Mark enjoys time with his family and friends, although his idea of “taking it easy” often involves kitesurfing, paragliding and skiing.
