Dr Peter Ridge

Dr Peter Ridge graduated from the University of Queensland in December 1980 to obtain his MBBS qualification and worked as a resident medical officer in Townsville for 2 years where he developed an interest in Anaesthetics due to the enthusiasm of the Specialist anaesthetic mentors he had.
Before joining the Southside Anaesthetic training rotation at Mater Hospital, in 1983, Dr Ridge worked at the QEII Hospital in Brisbane as a Senior House Officer in Anaesthetics, then rotated through Prince Charles, Townsville and Princess Alexandra Hospitals where he completed his training in September 1987 to obtain FFARACS qualification (Fellow of the Faculty of Anaesthetists Royal Australasian College of Surgeons) which later became FANZCA (Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists) when Anaesthetics became a separate College to the College of Surgeons. He then did some locum work as a specialist at the Princess Alexandra Hospital,
Dr Ridge began working on the Sunshine Coast at Nambour General Hospital in February 1988 and joined the Sunshine Coast Anaesthetic Group in November that year, as the 5th member of a Group that now has 36 members. His practice evolved to include Ophthalmology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, General Surgery as well as some Orthopaedics and Paediatric Surgeries.
Dr Ridge has always endeavoured to maintain his anaesthetic skills for the delivery of safe anaesthesia and excellent perioperative outcomes. To this end he has complied with the requirements of the College of Anaesthetists for continuing professional development (CPD). He also enjoys teaching nursing and medical students to foster their interest in anaesthesia.
Dr Ridge’s children grew up on the Sunshine Coast (before spreading out) and now a good deal of his time is spent enjoying his grandchildren. He also likes to travel, go hiking as well as snow skiing when possible.
