Dr Rochelle Ryan completed her medical degree at the University of Newcastle in 2009, graduating with distinction, following a Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours Class I). She undertook specialist anaesthesia training across South East Queensland and completed a fellowship at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in 2016, with a focus on upper gastrointestinal and bariatric surgery.

Dr Ryan has been based on the Sunshine Coast since 2017, where she works as a specialist anaesthetist across both public and private sectors. Her clinical practice spans a broad range of surgical specialties, enabling her to provide comprehensive and adaptable perioperative care.

Her anaesthetic practice encompasses all aspects of anaesthesia, with particular interests in Upper Gastrointestinal, Breast, Vascular and Bariatric Surgery as well as Interventional Radiology. Dr Ryan is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care, with a strong emphasis on optimisation of perioperative management, and ensuring patients feel safe and reassured throughout their surgical experience.

Dr Ryan also has a strong interest in research and its potential to improve patient care. She is the Clinical Lead for Research in the Department of Anaesthesia at Sunshine Coast University Hospital and is currently completing a PhD focused on optimising antibiotic dosing at the time of surgery to reduce infections and improve perioperative outcomes for patients.

Outside of clinical practice, Dr Ryan enjoys running, Pilates, and spending time outdoors with her family.
