Dr Steve Naughtin is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) and has been working as a Specialist Anaesthetist on the Sunshine Coast since 2020.

He completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 2012 and undertook specialist anaesthesia training in Brisbane. During his training he worked at several major hospitals including Princess Alexandra Hospital, QEII Hospital, Redland Hospital, The Mater Hospital, Queensland Children’s Hospital, Toowoomba Base Hospital, and The Tweed Hospital.

In 2019, Steve completed a fellowship in Ultrasound-Guided Regional Anaesthesia at Sunshine Coast University Hospital, focusing on advanced nerve block techniques and acute pain management. He has also played an active role in developing the Regional Anaesthesia and Acute Pain Fellowship Programme at Sunshine Coast University Hospital, which commenced in 2019 and has since become a highly regarded and sought-after training position.

Steve holds degrees and qualifications from the University of Melbourne, the University of Wollongong, and the University of New South Wales. In addition to his medical qualifications (MBBS, FANZCA), he also holds a Bachelor of Optometry and a Graduate Certificate in Ocular Therapy. He is a member of the Australian Society of Anaesthetists.

His clinical interests include Ophthalmic (eye) Anaesthesia, Regional Anaesthesia (nerve blocks), General Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Maxillofacial Surgery, Acute Pain Medicine, and day-case anaesthesia.

Outside of work, Steve enjoys life on the Sunshine Coast with his young family and is an enthusiastic surfer, hiker, and trail runner.
