Bio:
Dr Fiona Barron trained in Medicine in the UK (also including a period in Calgary, Canada) and completed Specialist training in Edinburgh, Scotland before undertaking a fellowship at the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne. Having worked as a specialist anaesthetist in Scotland prior to emigrating permanently to Australia in 2012, Fiona has a wealth of experience in anaesthesia. Fiona worked in the Northern Territory prior to settling with her family on the Coast. She has a particular interest in quality obstetric anaesthesia. In addition she enjoys the whole range of surgical specialties here on the Sunshine Coast, caring for both adults and children. She loves living the Coast lifestyle along with her husband and three children, exploring all the region has to offer - swimming, walking the beach, trekking in the hinterland, offroad driving, whale watching and bareboating off Fraser Island.
Working in both public and private anaesthesia, Fiona is also lead Supervisor of Training for junior anaesthetists in the public hospitals of the Sunshine Coast. She is an instructor on the Managing Obstetric Emergencies and Trauma advanced life support group course and PROMPT and ACE multidisciplinary training courses.
