Pregnancy and Childbirth

Labour pain relief

It is important for you to give birth in a comfortable environment. There are many different techniques to alleviate pain during childbirth. Having an open mind and being flexible about these options will help during the birthing process. Be guided by your obstetrician and midwife, as they are always attempting to make the birth of your baby as stress free as possible.

Anaesthesia for Caesarean Section

There are many reasons why you may require a caesarean section for the delivery of your child. These range from personal choice, to medical reasons of the mother, to medical reasons involving your unborn child. Caesarean section can be a planned event (elective surgery with a pre-arranged date) or an unplanned (emergency) procedure in the middle of the night during the labour process. Either way, there is always an anaesthetist by your side.

Our main involvement with your delivery is with epidural pain relief, and anaesthesia for caesarean section. Below are some links discussing these topics.
